Braidy Industries is a future-leaning advanced manufacturer of metals for the global transportation and defense industries. The company’s first project, the construction of a greenfield aluminum rolling mill in Greenup County, Kentucky, will position the company as the low-cost provider of 370,000 annual tons of production-ready series 5000, 6000 and 7000 aluminum sheet and plate for the automotive and aerospace industries.

Automotive Product Metallurgist


The Automotive Product Metallurgist will report directly to the General Manager, Braidy Kentucky Plant and will lead commissioning and qualification process for the plant automotive flow path. This role will initially assist with the translation of customer product specifications to equipment specification and capabilities impacting product properties and performance.  This role will act as a technical metallurgical product and process liaison with engineering and construction organizations ensuring alignment on equipment operating performance needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish product performance and validation criteria for equipment vendors.
  • Develop commissioning and qualification schedule to meet customer requirements
  • Manage commissioning and qualification inventory.
  • Prioritize qualification milestones to support critical customer program milestones.
  • Coordinate modeling data collection and input needs for thermal & quench processes.
  • Develop practices and optimize thermal practice to perfect product performance properties.
  • Analyze and surface project risks, identify potential countermeasures, ensuring on-time commissioning and start-up.
  • Assist with the creation of equipment safe operating parameters and procedures.
  • Successfully communicate with executive leadership, customers, equipment manufacturers, engineers, designers, construction and all other key stake holders.

What Skills Are Required?

To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong metallurgical experience in metal manufacturing (ideally aluminum automotive & aerospace) and thorough understanding of new equipment start-up qualification progression. Expert knowledge of 2xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx coil and plate manufacturing requirements and specifications.

  • 10+ years of Aluminum manufacturing experience
  • Possess expert knowledge for aluminum automotive and aerospace product application
  • Thorough understanding of casting, hot and cold rolling, plate and sheet finishing processes.
  • Ability to translate customer specification to process performance quality system standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of TS16949, AS9100 and NADCAP quality management systems
  • Self-motivated, able to work within a lean organization
  • BS in Materials Engineering
  • Willing to travel initially (+25%)

Sheet Finishing Manager


The Sheet Finishing Manager will report directly to the General Manager, Braidy Kentucky Plant and will initially lead commissioning, process start-up, TS16949 quality system and customer qualification process for the Sheet Finishing automotive flow path including: continuous anneal and solution heat-treat (CASH), slitting, leveling, surface quality monitoring, lubricant application and packaging. The Sheet Finishing Manager will initially focus on establishing all operational aspects necessary for successful and on time equipment start-up. This role will provide technical operational guidance for engineering and construction organizations ensuring alignment on equipment operating performance needs. Then manage production ramp-up requrements to exceed business plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish product performance and validation criteria for equipment vendors.
  • Develop commissioning and qualification schedule to meet customer requirements
  • Champion environment, health and safety systems and culture
  • Determine workforce staffing, training and developmental needs
  • Implement quality systems in support of internal and customer requirements
  • Drive process optimization and learning culture using Toyota Production System
  • Manage spending budgets, product cost controls.
  • Successfully communicate with executive leadership, customers, equipment manufacturers, engineers, designers, construction and all other key stake holders.

What Skills Are Required?

To be successful in this role, you will need to have strong manufacturing experience in metal manufacturing (ideally aluminum automotive & aerospace) and thorough understanding of new equipment start-up qualification progression. Experienced in managing all aspects of large industrial scale aluminum sheet finishing manufacturing.

  • 15+ years of Aluminum operations management manufacturing experience
  • Possess in depth knowledge of aluminum automotive and aerospace product application
  • Thorough understanding of aluminum hot and cold rolling, continuous heat-treat, quench, slitting, leveling, surface quality, lubrication and packaging.
  • Working knowledge of TS16949 quality management systems
  • Self-motivated, able to work within a lean organization
  • BS in Engineering

Operational Readiness Engineering Manager


The Operational Readiness Engineering Manager will report directly to the General Manager, Braidy Kentucky Plant and will lead equipment operational readiness. This role will also have dotted line reporting to the Executive VP of Engineering. The Operational Readiness Engineering Manager will oversee the creation and ongoing execution of the operational readiness equipment checklist and assessment. This role will act as a liaison with Capital Engineering and Construction organizations ensuring alignment equipment operating performance needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide aluminum manufacturing engineering guidance for equipment design & capability.
  • Establish performance and validation criteria for equipment vendors.
  • Analyze and surface project risks, identify potential countermeasures, ensuring on-time commissioning and start-up.
  • Establish a list of measurable critical success factors for the equipment readiness execution and develop metrics and measures to feed to overall project go-live readiness.
  • Assist with equipment related customer qualification and product certification.
  • Ensure all critical spare parts are sourced and a complete list of all other parts is identified.
  • Develop plant engineering and maintenance systems, organization and training requirements.
  • Assist with the creation of equipment operating procedure parameters.
  • Successfully communicate with executive leadership, customers, equipment manufacturers, engineers, designers, construction and all other key stake holders.

What Skills Are Required?

To be successful in this role, you will need to have both a track record in metal manufacturing (ideally aluminum automotive & aerospace) and high dollar capital project engineering project management.

  • 15+ years of capital equipment project installation management
  • Possess expert knowledge of engineering considerations for aluminum manufacturing
  • Capital project management and large equipment construction & installation
  • Able to navigate complex equipment vendor contract / warranty agreements
  • Strong communication skill set, able to relate to all levels of the organization
  • Self-motivated, able to work without the support of a larger organization

Cast House Manager


The Cast House Manager will report directly to the General Manager, Braidy Kentucky Plant and will initially lead commissioning, process start-up, TS16949 quality system and customer qualification process for the Cast House automotive flow path including: scrap management, melting, metal treatment, casting, ingot management and dross management . The Cast House Manager will initially focus on putting in place all operational aspects necessary for successful and on time equipment start-up. This role will provide technical operational guidance for engineering and construction organizations ensuring alignment on equipment operating performance needs. Then manage production ramp-up requrements to exceed business plan.

Global Automotive Marketing and Sales Director


The Global Automotive Marketing & Sales Director will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and will be leading our business development in the automotive marketplace. You will be working collaboratively with the senior Braidy leadership team to set market strategy to secure desired market share of a diverse global US, Japanese and European customer base. Braidy Industries has four founding OEM customers that you will work with as you secure multiple additional OEM’s.  You will work with senior levels of these companies to establish cooperative OEM working partnerships, set pricing and negotiate contracts.

You will work with our R&D, manufacturing and technology teams to ensure that our sales and marketing strategies align with our product offerings and timelines.  Key challenges will include strategic analysis, contract negotiation, demand forecasting and mill loading requirements for new product rollouts.  As we enter production and the project unfolds, you will be tasked with setting the strategy and roadmap for the automotive market to insure continued growth of revenues and margins.

Responsibilities:

  • Exceed Annual Sales Target
  • Develop strategies for managing key accounts
  • Develop strategy for go-to-market and new business development
  • Build relationships within targeted Auto manufacturing companies at senior level
  • Negotiate contracts for pre-orders and new contracts
  • Develop Braidy Industries’ brand image in the Automotive Market
  • Grow Braidy automotive sales and marketing team as needed

What Skills Are Required?

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have both a strong track record in metal (ideally aluminum automotive) sales – as well as the ability to quickly build relationships in the competitive automotive market.

  • 5+ years of Sales experience in metals or automotive industries
  • Track record of successfully selling:
    • Products to Tier 1 Auto Manufacturers  or
    • Selling rolled aluminum (Ideally both)
  • Able to negotiate complex contract agreements
  • Self-motivated, able to work without the support of a larger organization
  • Strong executive presence, confidence selling to all levels of the management chain
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Willing to travel (50%+)
