Community Benefits

ALLOW Aluminum

Braidy Industries is the first North American company to contract the premier ALLOW-branded slabs of aluminum, which are both low-emission and low carbon. ALLOW aluminum is made from renewable hydropower and has independently verified certificates of its carbon footprint directly from the smelter of origin.

Scheduled to open in 2021, Braidy Atlas mill will be the first greenfield aluminum rolling mill built in the United States in 37 years.

20% Lower Carbon Emissions

The mill is designed to drastically reduce emissions and avoid leaving a negative environmental impact by developing aluminum sheet with 20% lower carbon emissions than its nearest competitor, while being 20% stronger than current market products. It will also have the lowest carbon imprint in North America and the second lowest carbon imprint in the world, in part, by using a closed-loop recycling system.

The prime aluminum suppliers of the Braidy Atlas mill are both the world’s largest producers of low-carbon aluminum and hydropower generation, respectively, and will provide approximately 2 million tons over 10 years of low-carbon primary aluminum.

1,500 Construction and 650 Permanent “Low-carbon” Advanced Manufacturing Jobs

Not only will the Braidy Atlas mill have a profound impact on the environment, but the local community as well. The Braidy Atlas mill will create 1,500 construction jobs, 650 permanent “low-carbon” advanced manufacturing jobs in the Appalachian region of the United States and approximately 3,600 additional jobs in the surrounding communities.
